The two best drivers were at it again Sunday afternoon at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. This time it was a mistake and then a push that helped the second best driver in NASCAR win his 80th career victory.

Stewart by far the most talented of the drivers in the 43 car field Sunday made one of the worst moves of his career and one that had me scratching my head.

With 22 laps to go, Stewart was in the lead and officially, a sitting duck. Cars that at one time were single file behind him, dropped out of line and started a charge to the front.  Stewart tried to block to protect his lead, but in doing so, lost the draft and quickly got shuffled backward.  By lap 175, Stewart was all the way back in seventh.

Stewart got lucky that his drop and then back to the top move didn’t take out the rest of the field Sunday. Tony if your going to make an attempt to block Jimmie Johnson who was leading the pack on the low side of the track, drop down and catch the faster draft. You were the class of the field Sunday unfortunely you handed a win to a driver that deserved about a 25th place finish.

Stewart take his #20 Home Depot Chevy to Charlotte for Saturday nights Bank of America 500 race. With four races down in the 10-race Chase for the Nextel Cup, Stewart is fourth in points, 46 markers ahead of fifth-place Carl Edwards and 154 points behind new series leader Gordon.

If anyone can make up a 154 point difference in 6 races it is the world best race car driver,  Stewart. Look for Stewart to take advantage of the last six racetracks on the NASCAR schedule and be in prime position to hoist his 3rd championship trophy in five years in Miami in the season ending Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Rumor has it D-Wade and Shaq are planning one big championship party in Miami that weekend and the #24 and #48 cars didn’t receive an invite. Apparently their invitations went up in “SMOKE” literally.
