NFL POWER RANKINGS – WEEK 6
The National Football League is down to two unbeaten teams after the New England Patriots destroyed the Cowboys 48-27 Sunday in Dallas. Tom Brady was unconscious again as he threw for 388 yards and a franchise record five touchdowns. Brady set an NFL record by throwing for at least three touchdowns in six straight games to start a season. Brady has 21 TD passes and is ahead of pace to break Peyton Manning’s single season record of 49 TD passes.
As good as the Patriots looked on Sunday against the NFC’s best team, I’m sticking by my guns and pre-season favorite to win the Super Bowl, the Indianapolis Colts. Until someone knocks off the defending World Champions, the Colts deserve to be at the top of every NFL power poll.
The Patriots will have a chance to knock of the Colts in Indianapolis on November 4th. Both teams should be undefeated for the AFC showdown and game of the year. The tilt is already being referred to as “Whose your Daddy”.
Indianapolis has two tough road games between now and the showdown with the Patriots. The Colts travel to Jacksonville and Carolina, while New England has an easier path to Indy as they travel to winless Miami and then host Washington.
New England should have no problems winning their next two games. I could see the Colts slipping up in Jacksonville, a place that has always been tough for Peyton Manning and company to win. Who can forget last years debacle in Jacksonville when the Jaguars ran all over the Colts in a 44-17 rout in December. The Colts won the earlier meeting in September 21-14 in Indianapolis.
Since 2003, Colts-Jaguars has developed into a rivalry, with the teams splitting games in 2003, 2004 and 2006 and the Colts sweeping the series in 2005.
The winless teams in the NFL is down to two as New Orleans finally found their offense and picked up a much needed win 28-17 in Seattle. The Saints cruised to a 28-10 halftime lead and and held on in the second half to beat the sloppy Seahawks.
Reggie Bush had 141 total yards and Drew Brees threw for 246 yards an a pair of touchdowns for the Saints.
The St. Louis Rams looked absolutely awful as they were blitzed by the Ravens 22-3 in Baltimore. The Ravens forced Rams QB Gus Frerotte into six turnovers and Matt Stover kicked five field goals as they Ravens (4-2) won a game by more than seven points for the first time this season.
The Miami Dolphins were hammered by the Browns 41-31 in Cleveland Sunday. The Dolphins defense, the heart and soul of the team, is downright awful. They made Derek Anderson look like an MVP candidate Sunday as Anderson threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns. Anderson also scored on a 1-yard plunge.
The loss was the ninth straight for the Dolphins, a new franchise record for futility. Things won’t get any easy for the Phins as the Patriots come to town next week. It getting so bad in Miami that the fans might start showing up with paper bags on their heads. Where’s Ricky Williams when you need him!!
1. Indianapolis (5-0), 2. New England (6-0), 3. Pittsburgh (4-1), 4. Dallas (5-1), 5. Green Bay (5-1), 6. Jacksonville (4-1), 7. New York Giants (4-2), 8. Baltimore (4-2), 9. San Diego (3-3), 10. Carolina (4-2), 11. Tampa Bay (4-2), 12. Washington (3-2), 13. Tennessee (3-2), 14. Detroit (3-2), 15. Arizona (3-3), 16. Seattle (3-3), 17. Cleveland (3-3), 18. Kansas City (3-3), 19. Houston (3-3), 20. Philadelphia (2-3), 21. Chicago (2-4), 22. San Francisco (2-3), 23. Minnesota (2-3), 24. Oakland (2-3), , 25. Denver (2-3), 26. Cincinnati (1-4), 27. Buffalo (1-4), 28. New Orleans (1-4), 29. New York Jets (1-5), 30. Atlanta (1-5), 31. St. Louis (0-6), 32. Miami (0-6).

Hook your biased towards the Colts has come out again. New England should clearly be number one in the power rankings after smoking the Cowboys!

Corn if you would have listened to ESPN sports expert Skip Bayless today on First Take he said that the Dallas Cowboys are the most overrated team in the NFC and that football fans shouldn’t look much into the easy win for the Patriots.

Headlines in Jacksonville Tuesday morning – Colts thrash Jags 29-7.
Braunie stick to getting rid of all seaweed out of your ponds. Your much better at that than predicting games.
Maybe Romes Clones can stop by and give you a hand.
Add in Skip Bayless and you’ll have the three stooges!!
