MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL 2007 POSTSEASON PREDICTIONS
The 2007 Major League Baseball postseason get underway Wednesday with three games. The red hot Colorado Rockies head to Philadelphia for an afternnon game with the Phillies. Later on in the night the Boston Red Sox host the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Arizona Diamondbacks host the Chicago Cubs.
The last series gets underway Thursday night as the Cleveland Indians host the resurgent New York Yankees. All four series are very intriguing and they could go either way.
The Rockies enter the playoffs as the hottest team in baseball but I like the Phillies in four games. The Phillies have three legit MVP candidates on their team and Colorado probably used up all the gas in their tank just to make the postseason. Look for a high scoring series but in the end the Philllies advance to the NLCS.
The Arizona Diamonbacks enter the playoffs with the best record in the National League. The Diamondbacks came together as a team the second half of the season and I look for the Diamondback to win this series in four games. The Cubs played good ball the second half of the season but the only reason they are in the playoffs is because the Brewers let an 8 1/2 game lead disappear. If Zambrona and the Cubs lose game one Wednesday night, look for the lovably loser to get sweep out of the playoffs.
The Boston Red Sox were baseball’s best team for the majority of the year but I see the Los Angeles Angels winning this series in four games. The Red Sox nearly had a catastrophic collapse as they almost let the Yankees come back and win the American League East division after having a double digit lead on their nemisis’. The Angels were the most consistent team in the major leagues this year and I just see them wearing down the Red Sox in this series.
The Cleveland Indians are in prime position to eliminate the New York Yankees. The Yankees played inspiring baseball the second half of the season but I just don’t think that the Yankees pitching staff is as strong as most experts think. I like the Indians and C.C. Sabathia to take down the mighty Yankees in five games. Look for Alex Rodriquez to exercise the demons of past postseason but it won’t be enough as George Steinbrenner goes another year without a World Series title.
