Hookscenter’s free NFL picks for week 1 against the spread.

September 7, 2008

Its that time of the year again where your good friends at Hookscenter put extra money in your pocket for free.

Did I say free?

Yes free?

Last year Hookscenter made the average NFL bettor $2100 on a $100 wager per game during the 2007 NFL season and I look to improve on that percentage again in 2008.

5 Star Pick of the Week (0-0): Arizona (-2.5) @ San Francisco.

4 Star Picks of the Week (0-0): Dallas (-5.5) @ Cleveland, Denver (-2.5) @ Oakland, Pittsburgh (-6.5) vs Houston.

Rest of the Week Picks (0-0): Cincinnati (-1.5) @ Baltimore, New York Jets (-2.5) @ Miami, New England (-15.5) vs Kansas City, Jacksonville (-2.5) @ Tennessee, Detroit (-2.5) @ Atlanta, Buffalo (-1) vs Seattle, New Orleans (-3) vs Tampa Bay, Philadelphia (-7) vs St. Louis, San Diego (-9) vs Carolina, Indianapolis (-9.5) vs Chicago, and Green Bay (-2) vs Minnesota.

Hookscenter’s free pick for 2008 NFL season opener.

September 4, 2008

The NFL is back again starting tonight in the Meadowlands as the Super Bowl champions, New York Giants, host division-rival, Washington Redskins, in the league opener of the 2008 NFL season.

The Giants lost defensive lineman, Osi Umenyiora, for the season during a preseason game but the Giants shouldn’t miss a beat with stud Mathias Kiwanuka taking over Umenyiora’s position.

The Giants should have no problem taking care of the Redskins in front of an electric crowd expected tonight in the season opener in which the Giants will receive their Super Bowl rings.

Look for a big dose of Brandon Jacobs running the ball as the Giants will look to control the clock and limit the Reskins offensive possessions.

The Redskins first game under new head coach, Jim Zorn, won’t go the way owner Daniel Snyder planned as the Giants defensive will smother the new West Coast offense brought in by Zorn.

The Redskins only chance to stay close is if they have a huge game from RB Clinton Portis and QB Jason Campbell limits his mistakes.

Not the best game to handicap to open the season, but I like the Giants (+4.5).

Hookscenter’s 2008 Picks ATS: 0-0.

5 Star Pick of the Week: 0-0.

4 Star pick of the Week: 0-0.

Rest of Picks: 0-0.

2007 Picks ATS: 111-82-3.

2007 5 Star Picks ATS: 10-7.

2007 4 Star Picks ATS: 21-17-1.

2007 Rest of Picks: 80-58-2.

2007 Lock of the Year ATS: 1-0.

Hookscenter’s NBA Conference Finals Play of the Day.

May 20, 2008

I never thought I could turn a $100 dollar wager into over $1,000 in less than two weeks.

Hookscenter slaughtered the semifinals in the NBA’s Eastern and Western Conference’s, going 18-8, while correctly picking the winner’s in each series (almost to the exact games).

Tonight’s Game 1 from the Garden is about as easy to pick as a lone dandelion that stands out on the Boozer’s ranch in northeastern Fond du Lac County.

The veteran Pistons are well rested after disposing of the Magic in five games while the Celtics were pushed to the limit again, this time by the Cavaliers, before winning Game 7 and advancing on to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Celtics will come out sluggish tonight and the Pistons will take full advantage of their extra days off as they lay a can of ass-whooping on Boston tonight in Beantown.

I don’t know how the Celtics can be favored but take the Pistons catching 4 1/2 points.

The Celtics only chance to win tonight is if Ray Allen can cure his shooting woes that plagued him in the first two series. I don’t see it happening as the Pistons are by far the best defensive team the Celtics have faced so far in the playoffs.

It will be a historic night with a Detroit win cause Hookscenter goes over the 1K mark in earnings in only 27 wagered NBA games against the spread.

Hookscenter guarantees winner of Spurs and Hornets.

May 19, 2008

I predicted in my Forum before the series began that San Antonio would win this series in seven games. I didn’t think the home team would win every game in this series but that’s the way it has unfolded.

There is nothing better than experience in Game 7’s and the defending world champions have plenty of that. With four titles in the last nine years, the Spurs know how to win when all the marbles are on the line.

The Spurs defense needs to step up in the third quarter Monday night and not let the Hornets get off to a quick start in the second half in which they did in their previous three wins at home in the Big Easy.

I look for Tim Duncan to get plenty off support from Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili Monday night. Also don’t forget Big Shot Bob (Horry) who seems to hit the big shots when the games are on the line.

It was a great season for the Hornets, who will be contenders for years to come, but the young New Orleans team wil be no match for the Spurs tonight.

Take the easy Monday with the Spurs catching 4 1/2 points.

Hookscenter’s NBA semifinals prediction record ATS: 17-8.

Hookscenter’s NBA playoff pick of the week.

May 18, 2008

There is nothing better than a Game 7 in any sport where the winner moves on and the loser’s gets the golf clubs out.

The Bostons Celtics host the Cleveland Cavaliers Sunday at the Garden with the winner advancing on to face the Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The home team has won all six games in this series and I look for Game 7 to be no different except that I think LeBron James will have a huge game and keep the Cavaliers within striking distance come late in the fourth quarter.

The Celtics will ultimately prevail as one of the Big Three will come thru in the clutch for Boston.

Take the Cavaliers catching 7 points and enjoy your Sunday afternoon watching a thriller from Beantown.

Hookscenter’s NBA semifinals predictions ATS: 16-8.

Cleveland (-3) vs Boston and Utah (-3) vs LA Lakers.

Hookscenter’s NBA playoff semifinal prediction record ATS: 15-7.

May 14, 2008

Hookscenter apologizes for only going 1-1 on Tuesday night in NBA conference semifinal action.

When I took Detroit, I was under the assumption that Chauncey Billups would be playing. Billups didn’t play Tuesday night because of a lingering hamstring injury. With Billups in the lineup, there is no way Detroit doesn’t cover another two point.

When people are wagering on my bets, remember Hookscenter’s prediction are made hours ahead of time and many things can change. I am very confident and expect to win on every pick but remember to pay close attention to the lines and players status’ before making your final wagers.

Tonight I like Boston (-9) and Los Angeles (-8).

Hookscenter’s NBA conference semifinal prediction record ATS: 14-4.

Hookscenter’s NBA 2-team guaranteed parlay for Monday.

May 13, 2008

What does 13-3 get you?

In the National Football League, it almost certainly awards you with a trip to the Super Bowl?

In Major League Baseball, a pitcher with a 13-3 record would almost certainly get voted to the All-Star Game and be a heavy favorite to win the CY Young Award.

In the National Hockey League, 13-3 in the playoffs, means you would be playing in the Stanley Cup Finals, with at least one win under your belt.

Get my point.

13-3 is usually a pretty good thing when it comes to the world of sports.

Hookscenter rolled to that magical number last night as he took the Cavaliers to roll the Celtics which they did to even their series at 2 apiece.

Boston looks like no team that rolled to 66 wins in the regular season. They haven’t won a playoff game on the road and no team can be considered an NBA title contender that can’t win away from home.

Or was the Celtics play all part of my conspiracy theory of the NBA in Game 4 (The NBA wants to make the most money it can - obviously by playing a seven game series maximizes their earnings chances)?

Tonight’s games might be the toughest so far of the conference semifinals to predict. If the real Detroit teams shows up tonight at The Palace, this game will be a laugher by halftime.

The San Antonio Spurs looked like the defending champions as they destroyed the Hornets in a pair of games played in Texas this weekend.

So who do I like tonight?

I like the Pistons (-6.5) to close out the series and get that valuable rest the veterans need for the remainder of the playoffs? The NBA will try early to keep the Magic close, but in the end, Rasheed and Company dispose of Orlando rather easily and win the series in 5 games.

I like the Spurs to win this series in seven games, so they have to win one time at least in New Orleans. Tonight won’t be that night as the Hornets feed off a wild home crowd and win pretty big in the Big Easy. Take the Hornets and give the 4.5 points.

It’s easy money and remember it’s free. Why pay all these other phonies when Hookscenter is giving you the best predictions for free.

I’m taking home some more C-notes tonight, why aren’t you?

Hookscenter’s NBA Conference Semifinals Predictions ATS: 13-3.

Hookscenter’s NBA Pick of the Day for Monday.

May 12, 2008

The line is flying in Vegas for Game 4 between the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The opening line had Cleveland favored by 7 points in this pivitol Game 4  against Boston in the Eastern Conference Semifinals series. The line has shifted by 5 points as the Cavaliers are a measley 2 point favorite for tonight’s game against the Celtics.

The NBA is trying their best to prolong the outcomes of these conference semifinals matchups. They have done the job admirably so far as San Antonio and Utah both won Games 3 and 4 at home to even their series up.

The Magic are the only ones to screw up my conspiracy theory as they let Detroit come back from a double-digit deficit and win Game 4 by one point with a basket in the last seconds.

Yesterday again was like taking candy from a kid as Hookscenter rolled another 2-team parlay. It’s not even getting funny anymore because I have more C-Notes in my pocket than I used to have gum balls as a kid.

Maybe a trip to Hawaii for a little rest and relaxation might put a dent in all those crisp $100 bills the bookies keep paying me each night.

Take Cleveland tonight (-2) and remember, Hookscenter could always use an ice cold Bud Light or two when I’m out on the town (kinda like Friday when all my junkies took me out for a night on the town on all their winnings over the past two weeks).

Hookscenter’s NBA Conference Semifinals Predictions ATS: 12-3.

Hookscenter’s 2-team NBA playoff parlay for Sunday.

May 11, 2008

Does it get any easier to win than Sunday’s NBA conference semifinal action?

The Jazz had the best regular season record in the NBA this season with a 37-4 mark. Utah did lose to Houston at home in the opening round of the playoffs but I just put that in my money theory category.

The Jazz have no chance of winning this series unless they can win game 4 at home Sunday against the Lakers. This series will go at least six games and Utah cannot win on the road so my pick today is Utah (-4.5).

The other series falls into the same category except for one thing: The defending champions Spurs can win on the road and have proven that while winning 3 world championships since 2001.

I like San Antonio to win this series in seven games but I don’t think they can gome back from a 3-1 deficit, so tonight game is a must win for the Spurs.

Take the veteran Spurs (-5) to hang a good one on the upstart Hornets and even the series at 2 apiece heading back to New Orleans for game 5.

Once again, do you see a common theme here?

The NBA is trying everything in there power to get these series to last seven games so they can stash the extra cash in their pockets.

Hookscenter’s record ATS in NBA Conference Semifinals: 10-3.
