Hookscenter pencils in three more to Elite Eight Bracket.
While “Two out of Three Ain’t Bad” for Meatloaf, “Seven out of Eight” is great for Hookscenter as Texas, Kansas, and Memphis advance on in my bracket.
The other game of the night didn’t matter in my bracket because I had Kansas State knocking out Wisconsin in the second round. I thought Michael Beasely would eat the Badgers alive like Stephen Curry did Friday night at Ford Field in Detroit.
I cant imagine what Madtown is like tonight. The alcohol consumption might hit an all-time high this evening as Badger Believers drink their sorrows away in another promising season that ends with heartbreak.
The Badgers had their best chance to advance to the Final Four since before I was born (Hookscenter is 40) and the flushed it down the toilet at Ford Field. The Badgers looked like the underdog as they played the whole game with the “Deer in the headlights look”.
I would still like to thank Bo Ryan for a fabulous season. The Badgers were picked to finish fourth at best in the Big-Ten but for the first time in school history, the Badgers won the Big Ten regular season and tournament title. Not bad for a team with no stars on it.
Memphis played like the 40-0 National Championship team I predicted they would be Friday night in Texas as they embarrass Michigan State in a game that was over in the first ten minutes. The final score, 92-74, is no indication of how this game played out. Memphis lead 50-20 at halftime and could’ve won by 50 if Calipari wanted to rub it in Tom Izzo’s face.
To all the Memphis critics – You don’t have to his free throws when your up 30 at halftime. By the way, the Tigers hit 26 of 35 free throws tonight (74%). If Memphis can shoot from the line like that the rest of the way, it lights out for the remaining eight teams.
Kansas methodically rolled Villanova in a snoozer to setup a showdown with Cinderella Sunday afternoon at Ford Field. The Jayhawks take on Davidson in the last Regional Final of the weekend.
Texas pounded Stanford into the ground at Reliant Stadium, 82-62, in probably the most boring of the Sweet 16 games played the past two days. Either the Cardinals of Stanford used up all their energy to beat Marquette in OT to advance to the Sweet 16 or they had a bad batch of Texas Chili cause they stunk the joint up (Tom Crean of Marquette had to be pulling his hair out watching Stanford play like it had no heart).
Hookscenter is living a dream once again as I look to add another bracket championship and trophy to my already huge collection of NCAA tournament memorabilia.
Its just a matter of time before Hookscenter starts moving up the ranks as one of the best sports analyst who only does it cause I love the Wide World of Sports.
Quick word of advice for the weekend: Take all the #1 seeds to the Promised Land!!
